More artificial turf in college football

It appears that the upcoming college football season will see at least two more stadiums go to artificial turf. The University of Iowa's Kinnick Stadium will be going the synthetic route as will the University of Texas. Iowa officials state that the conversion will save them $80,000 per year in maintenance costs, while the University of Texas was motivated to go to Field Turf after a sloppy game against Texas A&M to end the 2008 season. An article at athleticturf.net (who knew that there was such a site!) indicated the natural turf actually gave UT a recruiting advantage, but the combination Bermuda grass and rye got slippery when wet.
