Potential New Stadium for MLS Champions
Continuing the trend of new stadiums for Major League Soccer clubs, the city of Houston and the Houston Dynamo are moving towards acquiring land to build a stadium for the two-time defending MLS champs (story in Houston Chronicle). The site is allegedly in downtown Houston near Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros. A location in a downtown locale would be a change from recent construction in the suburbs, such as Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX for FC Dallas and Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO that houses the Colorado Rapids. The Dynamo currently play at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston.
